Augustus

Age: 1

Augustus will be a special needs rescue and is looking for a special family to take him in. He has hydrocephalus and also a cleft palate that we have not been able to correct with multiple surgeries. This means he is quite a messy eater. Augustus will do best in a home with no other dogs.

6/1/18: Augustus has had 2 surgeries now to correct his cleft palatte we are hopeful this one sticks! Augustus is still "all puppy" so he needs to be watched or crated or he will chew on anything and everything. He loves to be held and loves his fosters attention. He is food aggressive, but will do fine in a home with one other dog where the owners are willing to manage this.

UPDATE: Augustus had his MRI and it was found he does have hydrocephalus, the cause of his seizure like fits, that should be able to be controlled with medication. We still need to get Augustus neutered and then have his clef palatte repaired before he will be ready to head to his forever home!

UDPATE 3/26/18: Augustus is a young male we took into rescue this winter that has a plethora of medical issues we are trying to learn more about. Augustus has  "fits" where he begins barking & growling at nothing. He allows you to hold him and pet him during these, but we are trying to learn what medically is going on to cause them.

Augustus has seen a neurologist & nothing was abnormal during his exam. We have also just done a bio acid test and nothing abnormal in regards to liver function was found yet either. We will likely be doing an MRI next to see if there is something more there...

Sadly we have learned he also has a cleft palatte and this too will need to be corrected after learning more about his neurological issue. With these severe medical issues we could use your help in covering some of his costs, as we have many other dogs in rescue at the time as well!
