New Year Update
1/3/10:
We want to thank everyone for all the support and donations received for 2009. All the care packages and Holiday gifts were very much appreciated by all the bulldogs and rescue team at FEBR. We loved all the cards and photos too. FEBR could not function if it was not for the supporters like yourself. We solely rely on donations for the medical care of the rescued bulldogs. We did not post up a Christmas wish list this year but have had several emails asking what the rescue needs. Items that we use the most are:
Heart worm and Flea meds
Refresh Liquid Gel eye drops
Hypo Tear eye wash
Puralube eye ointment
Nyla bones
Crate blankets/pads
Hypoallergenic Baby Wipes
Crates
These items can be mailed to:
FEBR
PO BOX 754
Odessa, FL. 33556
or brought to any of our events (if you are local) And as always, monetary donations are always welcomed. If you have made a donation, THANK YOU! from the bottom of our Bully hearts.

~~Tank the Pup~~
Do you want to buy a puppy from a puppy store?
Read my story before you do.
I may make you think twice.
My name is Tank,
“Click here” to buy me! That’s how I started my life.
I am a 7 month old English Bulldog Puppy.
I am a puppy store puppy.
I was purchased by a very nice lady who took me into her home when I was 2 months old.
This is where my story begins.
Everything was good in the beginning. It seemed like I was healthy.
I developed Mange.
I developed infections in both ears.
I developed cherry eye in both eyes.
My mommy took me to the vet and had my mange and ear infections treated.
I had to have surgery on both my eyes.
I then developed an ulcerated retina… Ugh!
My story continues.
I developed another problem. It’s called a prolapsed urethra.
Guess what?
More surgery!
Did I mention that I am now only 5 months old?
The surgery did not work right, so I need yet another surgery.
Now I can’t go potty. This makes me very uncomfortable.
My mommy is really trying hard to keep up with all my needs.
Speaking of needs, I have a few more.
The doctor says my legs do not work right and I have a limp.
My knees are messed up and I have hip dysplasia.
I am only 7 months old now.
This is so not fair! My mommy really has tried!
She called FEBR because nobody would help where I came from.
Now I am an FEBR puppy. My mommy told me they would help me.
I don’t think they were surprised when they heard what their doctor had to say.
Guess what?
More Surgery!
I did mention that I am only 7 months old, right?
FEBR's doctor said that I have a huge scar on my penis and no opening left to urinate out of.
This is caused from the past surgeries that I have had.
He said he can reconstruct my penis and help me.
He also says my limp is caused from a torn ligament (CCL) and it needs fixing right now.
My knees need surgery as well, but that will have to wait.
The doctor said my urinary problem is his main concern. I have to say, that it is mine too.
My mommy did not have any more money to fix all my problems.
I hear all this surgery FEBR is going to do is going to cost a lot of money.
I also heard them talking about their funds are getting low.
There are a lot of other bullies like me in the rescue. I now consider them my family, and they all need help as well.
Will you please help me?
I am only 7 months old! I should not have to go through this!
What did I do to make this happen to me?
Was I poorly bred?
Am I one of those “puppy mill” puppies that they are always talking about?
Is this why I have so many things wrong with my tiny body?
This is not my fault! It’s not fair!
I just want to run and play and be a puppy!
How will all these problems affect my future?
Will anyone ever want to adopt me?
FEBR says they love me and will do everything they can to help me, but they need your help.
My surgery bills have already exceeded $2000.00!
This is the beginning of my journey with the Florida English Bulldog Rescue.

Update 3/5/10:
Baby Tank is doing pretty good for what all he has been through. He is in re-hab for his leg and so far he is still urinating with no problem. Keep your fingers crossed that this stays this way. Tank has a few more surgery yet to go on his other leg but soon, he will be ready for his new home!

~~Dudley~~
Please help our newest rescue. Surgery is needed ASAP! This is Dudley, a 2 year old male that has had a rough start to his bully life. He has already had a prolapsed urethra repair and was just recently at the emergency vet for an allergic reaction. While at the emergency vet, the doctor noticed a mass in his jaw/neck area. That was when FEBR was contacted to take in Dudley. The owners decided his increasing medical issues were going to be more than what they could handle so they surrendered him to FEBR. Dudley was at our vet the very next day getting a work-up done on the mass. We are still waiting on some biopsy results but our Vet feels this is a blocked salivary gland. Surgery is a must. This mass has doubled in size just overnight. Dudley also has a raging ear infection, blood from his rectum, a luxating patella and needs entropion surgery. Right now, our focus is his mass.

~~Max~~
Oh boy, where do we start? This is not anything new to FEBR. Another "stray" taken in by a shelter and then to rescue to start treatment for a condition called mange. Did his old owners not notice that something was wrong? Or could that possible be why he became a "stray"? These answers we will never know and that is when we wished animals could talk and tell us what happened in their past. One thing for sure..his past is exactly that...his PAST. His future...it will be wonderful..you can count on it. Max will make his home for the next few months here with us at FEBR. Daily meds and weekly baths will become his routine. Down the line we will fix his cherry eye and then start looking for his new permanent family. Please consider sponsoring Max while he recovers. He is sweet, social and will make someone very happy soon.

Update 1/25/10
Max likes to meet new friends at the Rescue and his skin does not look so red. Max is a sweet sweet Bulldog and we have become quite attached to Max. He does not mind his weekly baths and looks forward to dinner, as he always gets something special since we are trying to fatten him up. Max told us to tell everyone to send him treats and kisses....his 2 favorites.

~~Chevy~~
This beautiful boy was in dire straits when we received a call from Tallahassee. He was at a vets office in need of emergency bladder stone surgery. Without hesitation, we headed north to meet up with Chevy who had an IV and a urethral catheter in place for the transport. Although making a 4 hour trip was not ideal, it happened. Chevy was sedated and transported to FEBR's vet where Dr D and staff were awaiting his arrival. Chevy was given a look over, xrays were reviewed but he was too sedated to go right under anesthesia. So we waited for it to wear off and then surgery began. We are so very fortunate to have such a wonderful Vet and her staff that all offered to stay after hours to perform surgery. They let us watch too! Over 15 stones removed from his bladder that was very inflamed. Surgery was completed at 9:00pm and he should make a full recovery. Chevy will have to be on a strict Urinary SO diet for the rest of his life. The bladder stone surgery had him under anesthesia too long to do his neuter at the same time, so he will have to go back next month for that. Please help us cover the cost of this emergency surgery and let's get Chevy feeling better.
These are some cell phone photos we took, but will have better photos up soon.

(some of the stones removed) (Xray of stones in bladder) OUCH!
UPDATE!!!
1/2/10
Chevy has recovered from bladder stone surgery and is doing great! He is a wonderful bully and beautiful! Next week, he will ne neutered and will have his eyes looked at.

~~T-Bone~~
We are sad to say that Tbone has been returned to FEBR after a failed adoption :-(
He is once again, a senior bulldog looking for a place to retire.
This little old man is stuck in his ways and although is very sweet, funny and lov-a-bull, he probably will not change. He just could not be nice to his new sister. Tbone has free roam of the house here at rescue and has no problems with the other rescue'd bullies as long as:
You don't tug on supermans cape
You dont spit into the wind
You dont pull the mask of the ole' lone ranger
and you dont mess around with T-bone
If you think Tbone is your match....let us know. He spends 90% of the day on the couch sleeping. The other 10% of the day involves eating, drinking, 2 short potty breaks and then it's off to the bedroom to cry at the door until "Doodles" comes to bed. He is also talented and will speak on command :-)

~~Abby~~
Abby is a 4-5 year old midget of a bully who is a puppy at heart. She's a cuddly little girl who loves people and a good spot on the couch next to them =)

~~Toby~~
Poor Toby found himself in need of rescue, thanks to this woeful economic time. He had been an on-going medical issue with skin problems and in need of entropion surgery desperately. FEBR took in Toby and he went straight to our Vet for care. His face looked so painful as he could barely see out of what he had for eye openings.
Toby had surgery the next day on all 4 eyelids. He is recovering at FEBR but will have to go back next week to have stitches removed under sedation.
Toby is a good boy, 2 years young and can not wait to get to his forever home. Please help and be a Christmas Angel for Toby.

(before surgery, feeling pretty miserable)

(after surgery, very swollen and draining)
~~~UPDATE~~
1/2/10
Toby Man has made a great recovery so far and has been a pleasure to have at FEBR. We have him on a new diet and his skin has responded wonderfully with it. His eyes are just about healed up too. He is such a well behaved boy, loves everyone and your bed! but listens well. Here are some new pics. He is ready for his new forever family.
~~Hunk~~
Hunk reminds us more of a manatee than a bulldog! He is one of the new boys to FEBR and is already on a diet! Hunk does not think he has a weight issue and trys to show us that he can run, jump and play just as well as the slimmer bullies. He loves attention, loves other bullies loves toys and loves to eat. His quiet time includes lounging on a cot watching the action at the horse farm. Hunk is sure to make you smile and on his search for his new forever home.
~~Penny~~
Pictures are worth more than words.
Sweet as sweet can be, Penny will be treated for a rip-roaring eye infection before a full assessment can be made of what appears to be cherry eye in both eyes and dry eye. She has also started on treatment for mange.
Update 10/5/09: Penny is doing a little better, her skin is looking good and her eyes are somewhat better. No where near ready for surgery but Penny asked us to go ahead and start looking for her new family: She even wrote her own bio!
BBBW (Big Beautiful Brindle Woman) ISO warm fuzzy man who can appreciate the voluptuous type. Must love short walks at night, and lots of full body massages! If you are scared of heavy breathing and drool in the water bowl, you need not apply. I would also prefer someone with longer arms able to reach those "hard to reach" areas on us "rounder" women. If you are the one who will spoil me like I deserve, then get your application in to these rescue wardens fast!! I'm waiting for you!! xoxoxox
11/26/09 Update: After taking a flying leap off a deck, Penny has injured her leg. It has been several weeks and she still is having a problem walking. We believe she will be in need of the same surgery Buddah just went through soon. Updates to come as evaluations are done.
~~Bubba~~
Bubba is a 4 year old completely white English Bulldog who is new to rescue. He is very sweet and will be having neuter surgery on February 23rd. We are also treating him currently for an eye infection. He does very well with other dogs and children. He will be ready to go home before you know it!
~~Gino~~
Gino is a 3 year old male bully. He is super cute and colorful . His fur is black, brown and white. He loves to play and run around. He would do best with older children and adults only please.
~~Houdini~~
Look at this Love Bug! He is 5 years old and already neutered. We think he may be deaf but has a wonderful character and doesn't need much discipline. Houdini is looking for his forever home. He is extremely social and sweet, all he wants is love! Send him your application now :)
~~Fiona~~
Fiona is another victim of this disposable society we live in. This beautiful girl was left at a home by a man who said he could not keep her anymore. He supposivly knew this house bred bulldogs so we guess he figured they would find Fiona a home.This person called FEBR to help. When we arrived, we were shocked to find that Fiona still had C-Section sutures in place. Where are her puppies? When did she give birth? No one knows these answers. All we know is that it is obvious she was used for breeding..they sold or kept her puppies and dumped Fiona when they were threw with her.
She is as sweet as she can be and did not deserve to be disposed of this way. FEBR will take care of Fiona and make sure she is treated like the princess she is and find her a new castle soon.
UPDATE 3/5/10
FEBR TOOK FIONA FOR HER CHECK UP AND TO HAVE THOSE INFECTED SUTURES REMOVED AND
SHE HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR HEARTWORMS!
ARE WE SURPRISED? NOT REALLY, NOW WE KNOW WHY HER OWNER DUMPED HER.
We are sure they got her as a puppy thinking they could make some $$$off her. Probably never took her to the vet for routine care , vaccinations, and heartworm prevention.
Bred the hell out of her. Kept her in a kennel most of her life, let her get hearTworms because they were too stupid to give prevention, and now they know she is too old to push out anymore puppies for them and OF COURSE they will not treat her for heartworms so they threw her out like a bag of garbage.
TYPICAL BACK YARD BREEDER!
FEBR will treat Fiona for Hearworms, have her spayed, treat her ear infections and anything else she needs.
Heartworm treatmant alone costs febr $800. Please help if you can!
~~Newman~~
Newman is not feeling to well right now but he will soon. Newman is suffering from chronic ear infections that are now so bad that he will require surgery to fix them. One of our past rescues (Chubby) had this surgery and is doing great. We hope we can provide the same relief for this sweet bully boy.
Update 3-5-10:
It has been confirmed that Newman will need a procedure called "Total Ear Canal Ablation" for both of his severley damaged ears. This is due to chronic ear infections and the tissue inside his canal eventually calcify and close off. This condition is very painful for Newman and we have him on pain meds until his surgery is started next week. Each ear surgery takes several hours and the risk is facial paralysis. They will do one ear and the next several weeks later. The relief from this surgery is incredible and FEBR is happy that they can do this for this sweet boy. This surgery is very expensive and is preformed by a board certified surgeon. Please help us with his surgery costs. Every dollar helps!
~~Farley~~
Farley is an 8m old puppy that is bouncey bouncey bouncey. Basic training and house breaking will be a must to get this little boy on the right track. He is already overweight and has started a diet. He will be neutered soon and then ready for his new home.
~~Aggie~~
Miss Aggie is a 15m old hyper bully girl, will be spayed soon and is starting a training class. Updates to Come!
